  • Panoramic views of Leh and the Stok Range from Shanti Stupa; views of the Zanskar and Karakoram ranges from the summit.
  • Certified mountaineering instructor / expedition leader, emergency oxygen backup at Base Camp.
  • Buffer day built in for weather or acclimatisation delays.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1

Arrival at Leh (3,500 m) and total rest

    Up to 3,500 m

Flying directly to 3,500 m is a major change for the body, so the day is for rest, hydration and acclimatisation. Avoid exertion. Overnight: hotel in Leh.

  2. Day 2

    Shanti Stupa walk and acclimatisation

Light acclimatisation walk to Shanti Stupa to assess adaptation; panoramic views of Leh and the Stok Range. Walk ~3-4 km, 2-3 hrs. Overnight: hotel in Leh.

  3. Day 3

    Leh to Rumtse (4,200 m)

    Up to 4,200 m

Drive through the Indus Valley towards Rumtse, gateway to the Tso Kar region. Evening acclimatisation walk because the sleeping altitude is much higher than Leh. Drive 4-5 hrs; evening walk ~2 km. Overnight: camp / homestay.

  4. Day 4

Rumtse to Rumtse Phu (4,400 m)

    Up to 4,400 m

Short drive/trek into remote high-altitude Ladakh; terrain becomes more rugged. Slow, steady movement ("Climb high, sleep low"). Trek ~4-5 km, 3-4 hrs. Overnight: camp.

  5. Day 5

Trek to Base Camp (5,200 m)

    Up to 5,200 m

Start of the real expedition phase through moraine terrain and barren Himalayan landscape. Hydration and slow pacing are critical. Trek ~6-7 km, 4-5 hrs. Overnight: Base Camp tent.

  6. Day 6

    Summit preparation day

At Base Camp, check technical gear (crampons, gaiters, harnesses, ice axes) and practise basic mountaineering skills if required. Early dinner and rest. Overnight: Base Camp tent.

  7. Day 7

Summit UT Kangri (6,070 m) and return to Base Camp

    Up to 6,070 m

Summit push usually begins around midnight when the snow is firm and stable. Steep scree and snow sections to the summit, with views of the Zanskar and Karakoram ranges, then careful descent. Trek ~10-12 km, 8-12 hrs. Overnight: Base Camp tent.

  8. Day 8

    Extra / buffer day

Kept for summit flexibility in case of bad weather or acclimatisation delays; if the summit is done on schedule, used for rest and recovery at Base Camp. Overnight: Base Camp tent.

  9. Day 9

Trek to Rumtse Phu and drive back to Leh

Descend towards Rumtse Phu and drive to Leh. Trek ~6-7 km, 3-4 hrs; drive 4-5 hrs. Overnight: hotel in Leh.

  10. Day 10
